Total load
Total load of the grandstand – sum of all forces as the basis for static design
What is the total load capacity of a grandstand?
The total load is the sum of all loads acting on a grandstand structure: dead load, live load from people, wind load, snow load on roofs, and impact load on railings. The total load forms the basis for the structural design of all components and the foundation. Eurocode standards define how loads are superimposed in combination.
Total load calculation as the basis of Bender statics
Bender performs a complete overall load calculation for each grandstand configuration. All relevant load cases are considered and combined into load combinations that cover the most unfavorable simultaneous loads. The governing load combination determines the dimensioning of the structural components. Bender collaborates with qualified structural engineers.
Load combinations according to Eurocode
DIN EN 1990 regulates how different loads are combined. Not all loads act simultaneously with full intensity. Combination rules are used to determine the realistic total load.
Safety margins in the calculation
Loads are multiplied by safety factors in the static calculation to ensure sufficient reserves. Bender determines all safety factors in accordance with standards.
