What is a temporary arena?

A temporary arena is a circular or U-shaped spectator structure that is fully assembled on a mobile basis and dismantled again after the event. It allows a stadium-like experience to be created at locations with no permanent infrastructure – such as exhibition halls, city squares, or racing circuits.

What types of events are temporary arenas used for?

Temporary arenas are used for a wide variety of events: concerts, ice sports, combat sports, basketball, handball, tennis, motorsport, as well as large-scale political and cultural gatherings.

How many spectators can a temporary arena accommodate?

The capacity is virtually unlimited in terms of scalability. Small arenas can seat just a few hundred spectators, while large-scale projects – such as the 2023 Men's Handball World Championship in Stockholm – have reached over 22,000 spectator places.

How long does it take to build a temporary arena?

Depending on the size, construction of a temporary arena can take anywhere from a few days for a smaller indoor arena to several weeks for a large outdoor structure. Professional installation teams often work in shifts to meet tight event deadlines.

What safety requirements apply to temporary arenas?

Temporary arenas are subject to permit requirements as temporary structures. Structural calculations, engineer-stamped drawings, fire safety concepts, and clearly defined evacuation routes are all required. A final inspection by the relevant authorities is mandatory before use.

Can a temporary arena be covered with a roof?

Yes. Various roof systems – from mono-pitch roofs and grandstand canopies to full arena roofs or tensile membrane roofs – can be integrated into the grandstand structure, reliably protecting spectators from the elements.

Can an arena be customised to match our event's brand identity?

Yes. Cladding, seat covers, fascia design, and advertising panels can all be tailored to the event's branding. Camera platforms, commentary boxes, and FOH towers can also be integrated into the structure.
