Terrain adaptation
Grandstand on uneven terrain – flexible terrain adaptation for any topography with Bender
What does terrain adaptation mean in grandstand construction?
Terrain adaptation refers to the technical adjustment of a grandstand structure to the actual ground conditions at the installation site. Many event venues are not perfectly level – slopes, steps, soft ground, or obstacles such as drainage channels must be factored into the planning. Without careful terrain adaptation, the stability and resistance to tipping of the grandstand can be compromised. Precise on-site planning is therefore essential.
Terrain adaptation as a core competency of Bender grandstands
Bender Tribunes has extensive experience in adapting mobile grandstands to a wide variety of terrain. The modular system allows for height adjustment of individual support legs using shims and height-adjustable base elements. Inclines can be compensated for by adjusting the steps. For extreme terrain, custom solutions with truss girders and adapted foundation slabs are developed. Bender has erected grandstands on grass, asphalt, gravel, and on slopes.
Preliminary site visit as a basis
Bender recommends a preliminary site visit for every event, during which ground bearing capacity, gradient, and potential obstacles are recorded. A precise setup plan is then created based on this information.
Soil bearing capacity and foundations
Soft ground such as sand, grass, or filled soil requires large support plates. Bender calculates the required bearing area depending on the foundation load and soil bearing capacity.
