Recess
Cutouts in grandstand structures – planned interruptions for access and technology
What is a recess in a grandstand?
A recess is a planned interruption within the grandstand structure. It serves to keep certain areas clear – for access stairs, escape routes, technical areas, cable penetrations, or infrastructure installations. Recesses are already considered and structurally verified during the planning phase.
Precise planning of recesses at Bender
Bender Tribünen plans all recesses individually and in close consultation with the event organizer and the authorities. The modular construction system allows for flexible integration of recesses without compromising structural integrity. For each recess area, structural reinforcements are used to redirect the loads around the interruption.
Typical use cases
Common cutouts include stair towers and access stairs, technical corridors for sound and lighting, wheelchair ramps, and cable penetrations. Bender takes all these requirements into account during the initial planning phase
Static calculations for recess areas
Each recess is documented and verified in the structural stability analysis. The edge trims and railings around recesses are constructed in accordance with DIN EN 13200.
