Railing

Grandstand railings – fall protection compliant with DIN EN 13200 for spectator facilities

What are railings in grandstand construction?

Guardrails are safety elements installed on the outer edges, stairways, and elevated areas of grandstands to protect people from falls. They must meet defined minimum heights and be designed to withstand the standard impact load. In German and European grandstand construction, the requirements of DIN EN 13200 and the respective state building code apply. Guardrails are an essential, mandatory component of every grandstand structure.

Grandstand railings by Bender – safety as a matter of course

Every Bender grandstand comes standard with railings that comply with regulations. The railings are made of galvanized steel or aluminum, are compatible with the grandstand system, and are designed to withstand impact loads according to DIN EN 13200. The standard height is 1.10 meters at the outer edges – exceeding the minimum requirement. All railing configurations are included in the complete structural stability analysis that accompanies every Bender grandstand.

Handrails on stairways and entrances

Stairways require handrails on both sides at a grip height of 85 to 100 cm. Bender integrates handrails on all staircases, stair towers, and access platforms as a standard component of the installation.

Railings and impact load calculations

All railings must be designed to withstand the standard impact loads according to DIN EN 13200. Bender provides the complete structural analysis of all railing elements as part of the approval documentation.
