Lateral bandage

Side bracing of the grandstand – lateral stiffening for stability against wind and horizontal loads

What is a lateral support in grandstand construction?

A lateral brace is a stiffening element located at the outer edges of a grandstand. It absorbs horizontal forces acting laterally on the grandstand structure – particularly wind loads from the front or rear, as well as impact loads. Lateral braces are often designed as diagonal struts or cross braces.

Lateral bandages in the Bender system

Bender's modular system integrates side braces as an integral part of the grandstand bracing. They are dimensioned according to standards, their structural stability is verified, and they are visually integrated into the grandstand structure. If desired, they can be concealed with cladding elements. Bender designs the side braces so that they do not obstruct access or escape routes.

Lateral bandage and visual design

Side panels can be concealed by cladding elements, giving the structure a closed, attractive appearance from the outside. Bender offers suitable cladding solutions.

Dimensioning according to wind load

The dimensioning of the side bracing depends on the site-specific wind load. Bender calculates the required bracing size individually for each installation location
