Junction
Junction in the grandstand structure – statically designed connection points for maximum safety
What is a node in a structural system?
A node is the connection point between several structural components. At nodes, columns, crossbeams, and diagonals meet and transfer their forces. Nodes are particularly stressed points in the structure because multiple forces act simultaneously from different directions. Their correct design is crucial for the stability of the entire grandstand.
Junction design in the Bender system
Bender's modular system features specially designed node elements for reliable force transmission. These elements are made of high-strength steel, are wear- and corrosion-resistant, and are designed for all intended load cases. Their unique shape eliminates assembly errors. All nodes are included in the structural stability analysis.
Critical intersections at large grandstands
In large grandstands, connection points are subjected to very high forces. Bender designs particularly stressed connection points with increased safety margins and inspects them regularly.
Maintenance and inspection
After each event, connection points are inspected for visible damage, deformation, and wear. Any conspicuous components are replaced before the next use.
