Fire department access
Fire department access at grandstands – planning of unobstructed escape routes for emergency operations
What is a fire lane at events?
A fire department access route is a permanently clear access path that allows emergency vehicles access to the event venue at all times. These routes must have a defined minimum width and minimum load-bearing capacity and must not be blocked. Requirements are regulated in the Fire Department Access Guidelines and the Ordinance on Places of Assembly (VStättVO).
Fire department access routes in the Bender grandstand planning
Bender takes fire department access routes into account right from the initial grandstand planning stage. The grandstand's position is chosen to ensure that all legally required access routes remain unobstructed. The site plan shows all fire department access routes with their dimensions. The plan is coordinated with the local fire department and the permitting authority.
Minimum requirements
Fire service access routes typically need to be at least 3.50 m wide and 3.50 m high and designed for vehicles with an axle load of up to 16 tonnes.
Coordination with the event venue
Fire lanes are often already defined at well-known event venues. Bender is familiar with many locations and automatically plans taking existing access routes into account.
