Evacuation concept
Grandstand evacuation concept – safe evacuation planning for major events with Bender
What is an evacuation plan for grandstands?
An evacuation plan is a structured plan for the safe evacuation of a venue in case of emergency. It defines the number and location of escape routes, the maximum evacuation time, the width of exits depending on the number of visitors, and the responsibilities of security personnel. The evacuation plan is part of the legally required safety concept and must be approved by the permitting authority. A complete evacuation plan is essential for obtaining an event permit.
Evacuation planning as part of Bender's service offering
Bender Tribunes supports event organizers in developing their evacuation plans. The grandstand configuration is planned to ensure sufficient escape routes of standard width and compliance with the maximum evacuation time according to the German Ordinance on Places of Assembly (VStättVO) and DIN EN 13200. The Bender planning team is familiar with all relevant standards and takes into account the specific requirements of the responsible permitting authority. Bender customers always receive fully prepared evacuation plan documentation ready for review.
Escape route width according to visitor number
As a guideline, one meter of net escape route width is required for every 600 people. For 3,000 seats, this would mean a minimum of five meters of escape route capacity, distributed across multiple exits. Bender calculates this precisely for each grandstand configuration.
Signage and emergency lighting
All escape routes must be marked with standardized escape route signs and equipped with emergency lighting. Bender coordinates the integration of these elements into the setup plan and liaises with the event organizer.
