Cross-bracing

Cross brace grandstand – stiffening element for wind loads in the transverse direction of the grandstand

What is a cross brace in grandstand construction?

A cross brace is a structural stiffening element that runs transversely across the grandstand (perpendicular to the seating rows). It absorbs horizontal forces from wind and impact loads and transfers them to the foundations. Without a cross brace, the grandstand could tip over or deform under wind loads.

Cross braces in the Bender structure

Bender's grandstand system features standard-sized cross bracing, which is integrated as an integral part of every configuration. These bracing elements consist of diagonal bars or cross bracing and are verified as stiffening elements in the structural stability analysis. In combination with longitudinal and lateral bracing, they secure the structure in all spatial directions.

Interaction of all associations

Longitudinal, transverse, and lateral bracing work together to secure the structure in all horizontal directions. Bender designs all bracing types to be coordinated with one another.

Cross bracing and assembly sequence

Cross braces are installed in a defined sequence that ensures the structure is sufficiently stiffened during construction.
