Support system for grandstands – connection between substructure and surface

What is the support system of a grandstand?

The support system is the structural layer between the main supporting structure and the usable floor area. It consists of transverse and longitudinal beams on which the flooring rests. The support system distributes loads evenly across the main beams and prevents excessive deflection of the walking surfaces.

The Bender support system – precision for even load distribution

Bender's support system is made of aluminum or steel and designed for standard load capacities: 4.0 kN/m² for seated stands, 5.0 kN/m² for standing stands. It is compatible with all decking types – laminated timber, plywood, and grating. The system is fully modular and can be adapted for individual configurations.

Deflection and stiffness

The support system must comply with standard deflection limits to ensure the surface remains level under load. Bender designs support spacing and cross-sections for minimal deflection.

Modularity of the support system

Beams can be combined in various lengths and cross-sections. Individual grandstand configurations are realized without custom fabrication.
