Wavebreaker standing terrace – safety element against crowd pressure at large events
What is a wave breaker in standing terraces?
A wave breaker is a safety element in standing terraces that runs perpendicular to the direction of travel. It divides the standing area into defined sections and limits the maximum number of people per sector. In the event of collective crowd movements – waves, pushing, spontaneous mass shifts – the wave breaker controls the force exerted and prevents dangerous pressure situations. Wave breakers are mandatory in standing terraces above a certain depth according to DIN EN 13200.
Bender wave breakers – compliant with standards and statically proven
Bender integrates wave breakers as a standard element in all standing terraces. They are designed and structurally verified to withstand standard impact loads according to DIN EN 13200. The height of the wave breakers complies with standards and provides visitors with adequate support without obstructing their view. Bender individually dimensions wave breakers depending on the terrace depth, visitor density, and regulatory requirements.
Dimensioning of breakwaters
The spacing between wave breakers is determined by the standard sector depth. Bender calculates the optimal wave breaker position based on the grandstand depth and visitor density.
Wavebreaker and evacuation
Wavebreakers are positioned in such a way that they do not hinder evacuation, but rather support it. Bender takes escape route planning into account when positioning all wavebreakers.
