Base plate
Base plates for grandstands – load distribution and soil protection during grandstand foundation construction
What is a base plate in grandstand construction?
A base plate is a leveling and load-distributing element between the support foot and the ground. It distributes the concentrated load of the support foot over a larger area, thus reducing the ground pressure to an acceptable level. At the same time, it protects sensitive floor surfaces such as artificial turf or parquet and compensates for minor unevenness.
Base plates in the Bender system
Bender individually dimensions the base plates for each support leg, based on the foundation load and the soil bearing capacity of the respective location. The range includes wooden planks for soft ground, steel plates for heavier loads, and special protective plates for sensitive floor coverings. The base plates are included as part of the complete delivery.
Soil bearing capacity and slab dimensions
The size of the base plate is determined by the foundation load and the permissible soil bearing capacity. Bender calculates the required bearing area in the stability analysis.
Protection of sensitive soils
For events on artificial turf, parquet, or other sensitive floors, special underlay pads protect the floor from damage. Bender offers customized solutions for all common floor coverings.
